For the first 25 years of my life, nothing really made any sense. I mean I could fight all I wanted at the time, but looking back at my life in secondary school right now, I can’t really blame the boys that called me “Ambitionless”. I had very cliche goals that began with what my father wanted me to be and ended in the choice of a career path. Nothing more!
It was as though life would fix itself once I got that MBBS degree; everything would automatically fall into place. I was foolish…and if I am to be fair to the boy I was; I wasn’t to be blamed for it, because quite frankly I had no platform or basis to be anything but foolish.
Sitting at a little desk in my room right now, in a kingdom ‘far far away’, a couple of minutes away from 30, I realise that much of what I am today is down to the events that have taken place in my life over the course of the last 5 years. I didn’t get wiser, I didn’t get stronger, I really can’t explain it or reproduce it into a formula that can be replicated (in a manner of speaking), but there is one thing I can say about it for sure; It was as though my light was kindled! My assignment, activated! I have had direction at every turn. I have been guided. I have had help. My life in the last half-a-decade has been quite a ride, but through it all I guess what I find the most interesting and the most laughable all at the same time, is that there are people in this world who actually now look up to me. E mi?! (lol)
People in their tens, Hundreds and maybe even a couple thousands, draw direction from me — in one way or another — and feel privileged to be in touch with me and to hear me speak on certain issues! Who? Me? That little ambitionless boy?
Naaah Bruh, jazz dey this thing!
I was visited by a Spirit.
But today is not the day I talk about that. I want to write in plain text that everyone can understand and relate to. Today I want to be thankful. Firstly to God, on Whose promises I stand…but even more especially, this text is dedicated to the people who chose to stay one place and let God use them to be a blessing to me.
To Jidekene, who always saw something in me and has loved me unconditionally even through weakness…
To KC, who I still don’t understand the measures of meekness and kindness God credited to his person…
To Zikora, who is always there to lend me money when I’m looking for something a little more than urgent 2k…
To Ruby, Pastor Enoch, Vee, 2nd Vee, Uju, Vic, Amaka…to my most beloved in Ramah, to the M’Fam ❤️
To everyone who has lightened my burden — even when I didn’t expressly ask for help, To those who have added flavour to my life, served and laboured with me, in faith, in works, and contributed to my growth. Daalu nu!
Of course there are quite a few others who I have not mentioned here, but it is neither for lack of impact nor for less contribution. I see you and I certainly appreciate the role(s) you have played in helping me serve my Lord in the ways that I have so far. God bless you!
I was initially thinking of drafting a birthday ‘Wishlist’. I thought of what to put in it but ALAS I was struggling to figure of what I actually do need. Then I said to myself “Yes! I certainly do need a fresh pair of Jordans” and tbh, it would have been nice to have that on my list if only I hadn’t already gone to buy them for myself last week. Bummer!😒
However, if you really do want to get me something for my birthday, here’s something that will really help; Please donate to the work we’re doing at MORTIFIED. Now for those who don’t know what that is, Simply put; Mortified is a non-denominational Christian discipleship platform that we run with a mandate to reach and teach the word of God to our world using various digital platforms. The vision is massive and our objectives for the coming year (2023) are quite scary. To this end, your donations will be much appreciated and will ONLY be used for the furtherance of the gospel of Jesus.
If you’re led to, you can send your donations in NGN to our current Admin account by clicking this link:
